You can now find the day of any date, from 1000
up to 2400. Try it out now. Take the date of the month, and note the first letter in the column below that date. Now take the month and look at the first letter on the left of the month on that row. |
|||||||||||||
|
Now look at the century and
note the first letter on that row to the right of the century. Look at the years printed under the letter grid and then note the first letter above your year. You could have two different letters, or both letters the same. The day of the week grid is printed below. |

The dates, September 3rd to September 13th in 1752 were omitted from the English calendar. Before then every year that was divisible by 4, exactly, was a leap year. |
Since 1752 a year ending with 00 is only a leap year if it divides exactly by 400 | 00 | 01 | 02 | 03 | 04 | 05 | (Leap Years Feb (leap) Jan (l)) |

Seiko Perpetual Calendar Watches.
Low battery indicator. As the battery becomes discharged the seconds hand will jump at two second intervals. The watch will still keep time. You have less than two weeks to obtain and fit a new battery. Depending on the model you will require a CR1612 or a CR2412, we have them both.
Fitting your battery. From the time the watch stops, or you remove the battery, you have only three minutes to fit the new battery. After this three minutes the perpetual calendar memory will have to be reset, we can do this for you.
If you have left the battery change too long, you may
find that the watch will not go. Or, the watch is going, but it
indicates, low battery! You now have a problem, the date will not have the
correct leap year program.
You can restart the watch and it will not show a low battery. Try this, remove
the new battery. Keep it out for over three minutes. Refit the new battery
only, do not try and set it. After five minutes set it to the correct time.
The Seiko calibers 4F32, 8F32 and 8F33 should indicate the correct date until
lst March 2100. If you are still around then, you may notice that the watch
did not indicate that it is a leap year and changed a day too soon.
Meanwhile you may have to set the day or time.
Time Setting. Gently unscrew and pull the crown of the winder out two
clicks as the seconds hand is at the 12 o'clock position.
Turn the hands to the correct time and wait for the time signal.
Push the crown of the winder in at the correct time and if it is the screw
down type, screw it in.
Day setting. Gently unscrew and pull the crown of the winder out one click. Turn the winder anti-clockwise and alter the day, this will not alter the time setting. Push the winder back in and screw down if applicable.
Date setting. Not all models have this facility. Gently unscrew and pull the crown of the winder out one click. Turn the winder clockwise and alter the date, this will not alter the time setting. Push the winder back in and screw down if applicable.
Checking the calendar. Gently unscrew and pull the crown of the winder out one click and push it back in within one second. The seconds hand should leap in five second jumps to show the year. The date will move to the number of the month. Then the date will move to show the date.
5 seconds = year 1; 10 seconds = year 2; 15 seconds =
year 3; 20 seconds = Leap Year.
Number in date frame moves to 12 then 1 and back to the original date, that is
lst December.
After you have set your watch, make certain that you have set it for the correct 12 hour period, if not, your date will change at 12 o'clock noon.

Leap Seconds, one day should have 86,400 seconds, but many do not. This is because of irregular changes in the rotation of the Earth. When the total of all the tiny fluctuations accumulate to a total of a second, we have a Leap Second. The information is collected from many astronomical observatories and takes effect at midnight on December 31st or June 30th.
